Abstract

The article examines the individual style of the author and translator as a complex, multidimensional phenomenon formed at the intersection of linguistic, cognitive, pragmatic-communicative, cultural, psychological, and biographical-historical elements. The aim of the study is to comprehensively examine the ways in which the authors idiostyle and the translators idiostyle interact in translation, within the anthropocentric and interdisciplinary framework.

The methodological basis of the work consists of the following methods: the method of theoretical generalisation was used to systematise scientific approaches to the problem of individual style in translation and to form a holistic concept of the translated text as a space for dialogue between two linguistic figures, the author and the translator. The comparative method made it possible to identify the shared and distinctive features of the author's and translator’s idiostyles and outline the nature of their interaction. The hermeneutic method ensured that translation was considered as a process of comprehending, interpreting and rethinking the author’s intention.

The main point of the article is that a translator’s style isn’t just a neutral thing, but a key factor in changing the author's style, based on their professional experience, translation strategies, and level of creativity. The study justifies the relevance of considering translation as a form of dialogue between two idiostyles, in which the translator tends to preserve the author’s intention while applying their own stylistic and linguistic features. The article ends with a conclusion about the prospects for further research into the translator’s idiostyle in the context of the reception of literary texts and the variability of translation interpretations.
