Retraction
Procedure for Withdrawal (Retraction) of Published Articles
In cases where a violation of the rules has occurred or appears to have occurred, or where necessary corrections have been made to a publication, the Editorial Board considers each case in accordance with the relevant COPE guidelines.
1. General provisions
1.1. This procedure establishes the process for withdrawing (retracting) articles published in the journal Mediaforum.
1.2. The purpose of retraction is to correct published information and ensure the integrity of scholarly publications.
1.3. A retraction may be initiated by the authors, the journal’s Editorial Office, readers, or authorized persons.
2. Grounds for retraction
2.1. Established факт of plagiarism or improper use of borrowed materials.
2.2. Significant errors in the research that render its results invalid.
2.3. Falsification or manipulation of data.
2.4. Failure to disclose a conflict of interest that affects the interpretation of the results.
2.5. Identification of serious ethical violations during the conduct of the research.
3. Initiating a retraction
3.1. The person initiating the retraction submits a written statement explaining the reasons for withdrawal.
3.2. The statement must be accompanied by evidence supporting the need for retraction.
3.3. The statement is reviewed by the Editor-in-Chief within 7 working days.
4. Consideration of the retraction request
4.1. The Editor-in-Chief establishes a committee of three independent experts.
4.2. The committee conducts a comprehensive review of the material and the relevant evidence.
4.3. The authors of the article are given an opportunity to provide their explanations.
4.4. The review period must not exceed 30 calendar days.
5. Decision-making
5.1. The committee may adopt one of the following decisions:
- reject the retraction request;
- propose that the authors publish a correction;
- recommend full retraction of the article.
5.2. The decision is made by a majority vote of the committee members.
6. Retraction notice
6.1. If a decision to retract is adopted:
- the article is marked as “Retracted” in all versions of the journal;
- a retraction notice is published stating the reasons;
the notice includes a reference/link to the original article.
7. Consequences of retraction
7.1. A retracted article remains in the journal archive with an appropriate notice.
7.2. The following parties are notified of the retraction:
- the authors of the article;
- scientometric and indexing databases;
- the relevant scholarly community.
7.3. Information about the retraction is published in the next issue of the journal.
8. Authors’ rights
8.1. Authors have the right to:
- receive a detailed justification of the retraction decision;
- file an appeal against the committee’s decision;
- publish a comment on the retraction decision.
8.2. The appeal is considered by the Editor-in-Chief within 15 days.
