ХАРАКТЕРИСТИКА МОРФОЛОГІЧНОГО РІВНЯ ТЕКСТІВ ПОІНФОРМОВАНОЇ ЗГОДИ НА СТОМАТОЛОГІЧНЕ ЛІКУВАННЯ У КОМУНІКАТИВНО-ПРАГМАТИЧНОМУ ВИМІРІ

Abstract

The genre of informed consent for dental treatment reflects the stages over communication between the doctor and the patient, when sufficient comprehensible information is disclosed to the patient regarding the nature and consequences of the proposed and alternative treatments. The purpose of this study is to highlight some features regarding morphological organization of the texts of informed consent templates for dental treatment from communicative and pragmatic perspective. The results obtained have demonstrated the mix between features inherent in written speech patterns represented in the texts of juridical and business discourse, as the predominance of nouns or nominative phrases, on the one hand, and features typical for oral conversation within the professional medical discourse, namely, dialogiсity and dynamism expressed by verbs in their finite or non-finite forms, on the other hand. The morphological distribution of vocabulary emphasizes the complexity and a multitude of aspects covering the reference situation of decision making: the lexical and semantic range of nouns points out the information density of the texts, some nouns also serve as text-forming dominants in the organization and hierarchy representation of the information, especially relevant for the patient; the high frequency of verbs indicates the considerable dynamism of doctor-patient dialogue on treatment to be done. Among the strengths of verbs is their ability to help modulate the message via tense and aspect. In order to achieve pragmatic goals and to avoid creating a minefield of difficulties for patients, the authors try to use the most pragmatically appropriate and grammatically simple vocabulary and grammar structures for conveying the most objective, complete, and accurate information, as the decision on human health and life largely depends on these qualitative characteristics.
