ТЕРМІНОГРАФІЯ ЯК ЗАСІБ СТАНДАРТИЗАЦІЇ ТА РЕЄСТРАЦІЇ ТЕРМІНІВ В УМОВАХ ГЛОБАЛЬНОГО НАУКОВО-ТЕХНІЧНОГО ПРОСТОРУ

Abstract

Terminography as a way of standardization and registration of terms in a global scientific and technical space. The article is devoted to the study of terminography, lexicography for special purposes (LSP lexicography) through the prism of its formation in a global scientific and technical space. An analytical review of the literature showed that the study of terminography as a way of standardizing and registering terms in the context of globalization, which nowadays covers all areas of knowledge, still remains a lacuna in modern linguistic studies that indicates the relevance of the work. The main objectives of this article are: to determine the object of the terminographic process, to identify the functions and tasks of modern terminography, to analyze the stages of development of terminography and the processes of globalization, to compare the stages of terminography development with the achievements of scientific and technical progress on the example of such field as medicine. The object of the research is terminography as a way of standardization and registration of terms in a global scientific and technical space. The methodology of the paper is complex: an analytical review of the literature – to determine the degree to which terminography is studied in modern linguistics; comparative analysis – to study the stages of scientific and technological progress and achievements in medical terminography; diachronic approach – to study medical terminography; descriptive method – to systematize the results. The material of the study: relevant data from encyclopaedias (Encyclopaedia Britannica, Fachsprachen:ein internationales Handbuch zur Fachsprachenforschung und Terminologiewissenschaft, Linguistic Encyclopaedic Dictionary) and lists of medical terminological dictionaries compiled from the catalogues of National Library of Medicine, Simon Frazer University Library, The British Library, The Internet Archive, Library of Congress, World Cat. The results and conclusions: terminology is an object of lexicographic process; dictionaries require strict adherence to the principles and approaches developed in terminology, lexicography and developing in terminography for its registration; global processes in the context of terminography tasks are presented; the stages of terminography development with the achievements of scientific and technical progress have been correlated on the example of the field of medicine.
