The present article is based on the author’s review of the monograph by Oksana Melnychuk “The Constants of Experience of Non-Verbal in English Fiction Discourse” which was published in the “Volynski Oberehy” Publishing House in Rivne in 2023. The major emphasis is made on the elucidation of the crucial issues and the role of cognitive and narratological approach in revealing the experience constants of non-verbal in a fiction discourse. The structure, cognition and interpretation are considered to be the most important factors that underlie the foundation of the research. Any linguistic process may be interpreted in terms of structuralism, having structure as its basic notion, the latter meets the requirements of integrity, transformation, and self-regulation. Structuralism as a productive method in humanities studies has proved to be a general linguistic methodology and fosters the development of this philosophical concept as related to the models of consciousness, psyche, language structures, thinking, the components of human actions. On the other hand, cognition, and cognitive and narratological approach in particular, focuses on sense study of a text of fiction aimed at explication of the constants of experience of non-verbal. The text is an organization of human knowledge and experience, with the consciousness of the narrator (implicit author) being a mediator. Finally, interpretation includes theoretical background of understanding and reception of a prose fiction text while the analysis of the factual material is the realization of the constants of experience of non-verbal in a discourse. Employing hermeneutic problems of interpretation involves cognitive perspective of literary text theories as for the analysis оf its perception.
