Support policy for PhD candidates

The Editorial Board of the journal Germanic Philology. Journal of Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University implements a support policy for early-career researchers by providing fee waivers for PhD candidates.

Waiver Eligibility: Full exemption from publication fees (APCs) and registration fees is granted to third-cycle higher education students (PhD students) who:

  1. Are enrolled in state-funded (budgetary) positions.

  2. Submit sole-authored articles resulting from their individual dissertation research (without co-authors).

Guarantees and Procedure: The decision to grant a waiver is made by the Editorial Board upon submission of supporting documents verifying the author's funding status. The waiver policy does not influence the objectivity of the peer-review process: all manuscripts undergo the full double-blind peer-review and editorial cycle according to the journal's universal standards. This initiative aims to ensure equitable access to high-quality academic publishing and to facilitate the integration of doctoral research findings into the global scientific community.

To apply for a publication fee waiver, PhD students enrolled in state-funded positions must submit, along with their manuscript, an official certificate from the postgraduate studies department confirming their current student status and budgetary funding. The certificate must be duly signed and stamped by the respective higher education or research institution.
